The Fort Pierce Branch Library announces its ''Friday Matinee'' lineup for July. Held every Friday, the library presents a free film, starting at 2 p.m.- July 6 - "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954) featuring Kirk Douglas and James Mason. A ship sent to investigate a wave of mysterious sinkings encounters the advanced submarine, the Nautilus, commanded by Capt. Nemo. Running time: 127 minutes; not rated.
- July 13 - "Man’s Favorite Sport" (1964) featuring Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss. Roger Willoughby is considered to be a leading expert on sports fishing. There’s one problem, however; he’s never been fishing in his life. Running time: 121 minutes; not rated.
- July 20 – “Overboard” (1987) featuring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. A cruel but beautiful heiress cheats a hired carpenter who later is the first one to find her when she gets amnesia. Looking for a little revenge, he convinces her that she’s his wife. Running time: 106 minutes, rated PG.
- July 27 – “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” (2003) featuring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. Blacksmith Will Turner teams up with eccentric pirate “Capt.” Jack Sparrow to save his love from Jack’s former pirate allies. Running time: 143 minutes; PG-13*
Anyone younger than 13 who would like to attend a film rated PG-13 must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Permission slips will be available at the front desk on the first floor beginning July 1.
