Residents Invited To Join FirstCall Emergency System
"By signing up for this system, you can receive text messages and voice messages regarding neighborhood criminal activity, missing children and other law enforcement, fire or health information," Sheriff Mascara said. "Signing up is easy. There are several ways to do so."
By signing up, St. Lucie County residents can receive pre-recorded emergency and non-emergency phone messages, the Sheriff said. "With increasing numbers of residents using a mobile phone as their primary telephone, our notification system needs people to register their mobile phones to get important messages. The registration information will be kept confidential and used only for the FirstCall notification system."
People can register by::
- Going to the "What's New" section of the Sheriff's Office website stluciesheriff.com and scrolling down the homepage to the "What's New" section where there is a link to the form;
- Telephoning the Crime Prevention Unit at 871-5303;
- Visiting the Crime Prevention Unit at the South St. Lucie County Courthouse annex located at 250 N.W. Country Club Drive, Port St. Lucie;
- Or visiting a St. Lucie County Tax Collector Offices: located at 2300 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce; and 1664 S.E. Walton Road (east of U.S.1), Port St. Lucie.
Unpublished and unlisted telephone numbers are not in the FirstCall Emergency Notification database. Those numbers can be registered by county residents. If they are not registered, those numbers will not receive notifications, Sheriff Mascara said.
